Course Description:
Radiation Control: Safety, Compliance, and Awareness meets the requirements of New York State Article 175 Radiation Control Training for individuals who work with or around ionizing radiation. This course provides essential instruction on radiation safety principles, biological effects of radiation, and methods to minimize exposure using ALARA standards.
Participants will review proper equipment use, radiation protection techniques, regulatory responsibilities, and emergency procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. This training is designed for healthcare and dental professionals required to maintain radiation safety compliance in New York State.

Course Objectives:
Identify the basic principles of radiation physics and the biological effects of ionizing radiation on patients and healthcare personnel.
Apply radiation protection strategies, including ALARA principles, time, distance, and shielding, to minimize exposure in clinical settings.
Demonstrate proper use of radiation-producing equipment and recognize required safety and quality assurance practices.
Explain regulatory responsibilities, safety protocols, and emergency procedures necessary to maintain compliance with New York State radiation control regulations.

Danni Gomes is an alumni of Fones School of Dental Hygiene at the University of Bridgeport which she holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. She is a Registered Dental Hygienist at Fort Washington Dental Associates. Danni is an Adjunct Clinical Instructor at New York University College of Dentistry; Dental Hygiene & Dental Assisting Department.
She is an American Heart Association Training Center Faculty and Basic Life Support Instructor. Danni is the Founder/Director of Creative Dental Connections LLC dba CPR24, and the Executive Director of the American Academy of Dental Hygiene Inc. (AADH).
Danni is also a Fellow of the AADH. She is a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, American Dental Education Association, International Association of Orofacial Myology, and the International Association of Healthcare Professionals.
